Don’t Break Your New Year’s Resolutions Just Yet! Here’s How to Eat Healthy on Your Park City Ski Vacation

Posted on January 16, 2020 Leave a Comment

New Year’s Day isn’t very far behind us. So if you’re planning a Park City ski vacation, don’t let all of your healthy resolutions go out the window just yet. There’s no reason you can’t take a trip and eat healthy too.

We’ve rounded up some suggestions on how to eat healthy in 2020—even when you’re busy tearing it up on the mountain.

1. Make Small, Incremental Changes

Say goodbye to crash dieting—or any dieting, for that matter. You’ll be more likely to stick to your plan on a vacation if you make small changes over time. One week, eat oatmeal instead of cereal. A few weeks later, swap white rice for brown rice, etc.

2. Go Meatless

Eating a plant-based diet is a great way to get all the necessary vitamins and minerals and save the planet. Try incorporating one meatless meal per week, and move up from there. If you’re going out to eat during your ski trip in Park City, consider dining at vegetarian-friendly spots like Twisted Fern and Vessel Kitchen.

3. Eat Seasonal Produce

Buying healthy foods can be more expensive than stocking up boxes of mac and cheese, but you can lower the costs and improve your health by eating seasonal produce. Ask a grocer or Google “What produce is in season right now?” before you place your grocery delivery order.

4. Meal Prep

If you’re like most people, most of your regrettable food choices happen when you’re starving or dashing out the door. Stay out of this frantic state by always having something healthy on hand, even when you’re skiing at Deer Valley or Park City Mountain. Even if you don’t want to do a full-fledged meal prep, you can at least arrange a veggie platter, boil some eggs, and chop some fruit to grab for when you’re in a hurry.

5. Meal Plan

When you’re coming home from a big ski day and you have idea what’s for dinner, you’ll be tempted to hit up the drive-through or go out instead of cooking something healthy. Avoid this conundrum by making a meal plan. It will save you from poor eating choices and save you money.
